This past Saturday, Piper High School was host to the 2020 Kansas 4A State Powerlifting Meet. Piper High School was represented by 67 athletes at this year’s competition.
It was an absolutely incredible experience for our student athletes, and all of those involved. As a staff, I think that you would have been extremely proud to see how many of our students were involved in planning, setting up, organizing, volunteering, and competing in this event. A rough estimate of students involved is somewhere around 120 students.
For the first time in school history the Piper Men’s Powerlifting Team are the Kansas 4A State Champions! The Pirates handled business beating Buhler High School by 13 points. This team set 16 new school records, took home 30 individual medals, and produced 4 state champions, 1 silver medalists, and 4 bronze medalists.
Our Piper Women’s Powerlifting Team had their best finish in school history ending their season as the Kansas 4A State Runner Up. It was very tough competition as the Pirate’s fell to Tonganoxie High School by 1 point. This team set 26 new school records, took home 25 individual medals, produced 1 state champion, 2 silver medalists, and 4 medalists.
