Bishop Miege Captures Lead Early To Defeat Pirates
Pirates fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 15-9 loss to Bishop Miege on Friday.
Bishop Miege scored on a home run by Griffin Edds in the first inning, a walk by Mike Welsh in the first inning, a error in the first inning, a single by Joe Lopez in the first inning, a double by Luke Shull in the first inning, a groundout by Logan Shull in the first inning, a double by DeAunte Parker in the second inning, and a groundout by Lopez in the second inning.
Despite the loss, Pirates did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Bishop Miege had 14 hits on the way to victory.
Pirates fired up the offense in the first inning. Esrom Griffin doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Pirates tallied four runs in the fourth inning. Pirates’s offense in the inning came from a walk by Tyson Lanter, a single by BJ Walker, a sacrifice fly by Brendyn Bard, and a double by Griffin.
Matt Moriarty led things off on the mound for Bishop Miege. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out three.
Bard started the game for Pirates. He allowed nine runs on six hits. Logan Vogel, Nate Golubski, and Lanter each contributed in relief for Pirates.
Pirates racked up 13 hits. Walker, Griffin, Lanter, and Golubski all managed multiple hits for Pirates. Walker went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Pirates in hits.
Bishop Miege racked up 14 hits in the game. Hayden Thiles, Shull, Nathan Stanley, Shull, and Edds all had multiple hits for Bishop Miege. Thiles led Bishop Miege with three hits in three at bats.
