It came down to the last play, but Piper Pirates Varsity was on the wrong end of a 10-9 defeat to Ottawa on Thursday. The game was tied at nine with Ottawa batting in the bottom of the seventh when Titus doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Piper Pirates Varsity fell behind by five runs in the fourth inning, but then tried to fight back. Piper Pirates Varsity scored eight runs in the failed comeback on a single by Macey Nigh in the fifth, a double by Grace Banes in the fifth, a error in the sixth, a double by Emma Martin in the sixth, a sacrifice fly by Nigh in the sixth, and a double by Grace Hawley in the seventh.

Piper Pirates Varsity tallied four runs in the sixth inning. Kaitlyn Bradbury, Martin, and Nigh all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Powell earned the win for Ottawa. She surrendered eight runs on six hits over five and a third innings, striking out five. Hadl threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Kayla Vest took the loss for Piper Pirates Varsity. She surrendered ten runs on 12 hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight.

Piper Pirates Varsity socked one home run on the day. Lauren Pappert had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Piper Pirates Varsity collected nine hits on the day. Hawley, Banes, and Bella Gravatt each collected multiple hits for Piper Pirates Varsity. Gravatt, Banes, and Hawley all had two hits to lead Piper Pirates Varsity.

Ottawa racked up 12 hits in the game. Kennington, Curtis, and Evans each had multiple hits for Ottawa.
