Piper Pirates Varsity built a six-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Tonganoxie’s charge for a 7-6 victory on Tuesday. Tonganoxie scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by #12 in the fifth, a groundout by #4 in the fifth, a walk by #29 in the fifth, and a sacrifice fly by #17 in the seventh.
Tonganoxie scored four runs in the fifth inning, but Piper Pirates Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. Tonganoxie big bats were led by #12, #4, and #29, who all drove in runs.
